Ever since the first issue of Birder’s World magazine (the predecessor of BirdWatching), in 1987, we have published stories about places to go birding. Over the years, we have profiled hotspots from New York’s Central Park to remote, wild refuges in Alaska — all exceptional locations to see birds.
In 2006, we started a series of one-page profiles called “Hotspots Near You” that present details about hotspots written by local birders along with maps, bird lists, and other info that visiting birdwatchers want to know. We have published almost 300 “Hotspots Near You” over the years focused on locations in the U.S. and Canada.
In this free download, sponsored by our friends at Olympus, we’re highlighting seven of these locations from New Jersey to Arizona to British Columbia. Each one offers exceptional birding — and consequently great opportunities for shooting photos of birds.
