This female yellowthroat is missing a patch of feathers on its head, and a few feathers are out of place or missing along the sides and flanks, and at least two of the secondaries in the wing are seriously out of place. It’s unclear if the bird escaped an attack by a predator or if the missing feathers are due to molt. In spite of this, the bird seemed perfectly healthy during my period of observation.
