January 2014. Blue Ridge Mountains, NC. I was reviewing some old images in my photo file when I found this image of a Blue-headed Mallard. Back in 2014 I thought that it must have been an unusual angle of light or some other strange reflection. As it turns out there have been other sightings of Mallards with blue heads, atypical encounters.
