This stunning fella is my resident Red-bellied Woodpecker. I named him Rodney. I took this photo last spring when he would frequent the “jelly jar” I had out for the Baltimore Orioles. It often looked like he was sitting in the jar when in fact he was just behind it. I called it Rodney in a jar. And I will forever cherish this photo. I haven’t seen him this year since April, its now June, and I hope he is ok living his best life at a new favorite feeder. Perhaps one day a Rodney Jr. will visit my yard. Northwest Illinois.
