A side-by-side comparison of the rarely observed African Collared-Dove (foreground) with its more common cousin, a recent colonizer of North America, the Eurasian Collared-Dove. Notice the paler overall appearance of the African, especially the tail feathers. Also note the scaly appearance that some of the palest body feathers give the African compared to the smoother, more even coloration of the Eurasian.
