This Little Egret was photographed in Hyannis, Massachusetts on Sunday, December 9, 2012. The bird had been present at this location for well over a week, so, Andrew Whelan and I drove up from Newport, R.I. to see this very rare bird. We were rewarded with great views in the early morning light, along with many others.
I used a Canon 50 D, shutter priority ( 1/1250 sec. ), Canon 400 mm, 5.6, non IS. In the last couple of months, the number and variety of rarities in New England has been amazing and has made for some great birding & photography.
