A few of these birds showed up this past week at #885 Main St., Burrville, R.I., so not seeing this species here in R.I. in over twenty years, I was eager to photograph & see them. I wasn’t disappointed, and the few birds that showed up a week ago had grown to a small flock of a dozen, quite content with feeding on the crab apples while being viewed from 20-25 feet away. I took many photos.
I used my Canon 50 D camera with a Canon 400 mm, 5.6 lense, non IS @ 1/800 sec. in TV mode
This Winter ( so far), has seen the biggest influx of Crossbills, Redpolls, & now Pine Grosbeaks in R.I., than I’ve seen in 40+ years, looking forward to see what rest of the Winter brings to us here.
