This Rufous Hummingbird, one of only a few ever confirmed here in our province, stayed for a few days at a home along the Bay of Fundy at Saint John, New Brunswick. This picture was taken on July 31 (my birthday!), 2013 in the early morning. The bird spent the bulk of the day defending its feeding station from resident Ruby-throated Hummingbirds. It made its last appearance August 3rd and hasn’t been seen since.

In this image it is perched on an iron support for some flowering baskets and a hummingbird feeder.

My gear for this shot was a Canon 5D MkIII with a 500L lens and 1.4x teleconverter.
