Bald Eagle

In July this past summer I captured a series of this Bald Eagle as it was swooping down on a small fish. You can actually see the fin of the unfortunate prey if you look closely. I was in a kayak on Erie Lake near Salmo, BC. A small marshy lake about 3km from the Village.

I seen the eagle circling above and locked my focus on the bird as it came closer to me when to my surprise it turned straight at me and made it’s dive. I was able to capture a sequence of about 20 shots as it swooped in on the fish a mere 25 feet in front of my kayak. It was quite a sight to see even from a viewfinder of the camera.

I was using a Nikon D4 and 200-400mm lens.

Thanks for looking,
