I spent 3 days or so shadowing a grad student’s project on the endangered Golden Swallow in Valle Nuevo National Park, Dominican Republic. I stayed at the wonderfully quaint Valle Pajon Eco-Lodge, located within the park. The endemic Hispaniolan Emerald (Chlorostilbon swainsonii) was one of the most common birds around the lodge.
