Hispaniolan Lizard-Cuckoo

Another endemic to the Dominican Republic is the Hispaniolan Lizard-Cuckoo (Coccyzus longirostris). It’s large in size, has a long tail that’s spotted on the underside, and a fairly long, decurved bill. When it forages it seems to run quickly along branches, reminding me of the Squirrel Cuckoo of Central/South America. The only other cuckoo species in the DR is the much rarer endemic Bay-breasted Cuckoo.
