Tickell’s Blue flycatcher belonging to flycatcher family is one of the two flycatchers resident in the Gir forest, other flycatchers are mostly winter visitors. Best place to locate this bird is dense scrub forest with water source around. The bird can be easily located with bright color and attractive notes. The bird prefers living in shades and feeds on insects gleaned from ground.
The photograph is male with bright upperparts and red orange throat. One morning passing by farm near Gir forest with ropes fixed for vegetables, the bird was picking insects near water channel used for cultivation. As passerine was resting on rope and was camera friendly, gave me enough time to over expose the shot and capture its aesthetic details.
