A Vervain Hummingbird (Mellisuga minima) stretches on a perch in Piedra Blanca, Dominican Republic. One of the smallest birds in the world (perhaps only the Bee Hummingbird of Cuba being smaller), this hummingbird is incredibly vocal and quite aggressive to both conspecies and heterospecies.
